About

I created ThePhilosopher.me because I knew that (a) it is increasingly important for academics to have an attractive, professional web presence—a single page that collects all their papers (preferably with links to the papers themselves), but (b) creating such a page is both complicated and time-consuming. I thought I could help philosophers have the former while avoiding the difficulties of the latter. So ThePhilosopher.me was born.

How?

  1. Enter a name you've published under and click 'Create your page'.
  2. If you want to add a biography, picture, or contact information, or if you need to add another name you've published under, etc., click the 'update your page' link at the bottom of your new page.
  3. If you are updating your page, you'll log in with Gmail, Facebook, or Twitter and update as necessary.
  4. Once you are done, you'll have a page at the url http://www.thephilosopher.me/yourusername. By default, your username is your name, all lowercase, with no spaces or periods. So you can find my page, Charlie Tanksley, at www.thephilosopher.me/charlietanksley.

FAQ

Do you link directly to my papers? No. The links on your page all go to their respective pages on PhilPapers.org.

Can I add any more information? Yes. You can add your contact information, a biography, and a picture. You can also note if you've published under multiple names (and those papers will show up on your page).

Can I upload papers directly or add an abstract? No. At present, your publication information comes directly (and only) from PhilPapers. I'm considering adding the option for people to alter/add abstracts (since some of the ones from PhilPapers start mid-sentence) and upload drafts of papers. But I haven't implemented that yet and am not sure I will. I'll probably add it if enough people want those options, but it would be a lot of work if no one would use it. So email me or send me a message on Twitter (@charlietanksley) and let me know if you are interested.
